A Brief Overview of Samsung Galaxy S10+ vs. Google Pixel 4XL Comparison
Samsung is becoming more traditional in its approach of introducing top quality handsets. One of the latest flagships is the Samsung Galaxy S10+ which is certainly a fair combination of specs and features. Still it is nothing less than a hard equation to solve when it comes to choosing the right handsets. That is the reason we compare the specs and features of different phones. In this article, we are going to compare the Galaxy S10+ and Google Pixel 4XL.
Google’s Pixel 4 and Pixel 4XL are the latest flagships that were launched in October 2019. The 4XL is certainly better than Pixel 4 from the perspective of display and battery performance. Remaining features are the same in both of the phones.
Now, start the comparison.

Specs
Design
While designs of both of the phones are based on metal and glass, they share no similarity. You will find Galaxy S10+ curvier and more slippery as compared to Pixel 4XL.
It would be pretty hard to tell that backside of the Pixel 4XL is covered with a thick and durable glass. That is mainly due to the matte finish. Only the black color variant of Pixel 4XL comes with a glossy back. The sides of this phone are also sharper than those of Galaxy S10+. But this sharpness doesn’t make the phone uncomfortable to hold. It just adds a bit of extra character in overall design of the phone.

Looking at the front, Galaxy S10+ has thinner bezels. The selfie camera is adjusted into a pill-shaped hole on the upper right side of the screen. Pixel 4XL, on the other hand, has a thicker bezel on the top. This bezel is also referred to as forehead. The reason for Google going for the forehead instead of a notch-based or edge-to-edge design is that it wanted to equip some extra sensors along with the camera lens on the top of the screen.
Camera setup on the back of Galaxy S10+ is a horizontal arrangement in the middle of the upper portion. Google Pixel 4XL, on the other hand, has installed two rear lenses in a camera bump which is on the left side of the upper top portion.
Display
Both of the phones tend to give best display to its users. Both of the phones have QHD+ OLED panels. The size of the Galaxy S10+’s screen is 6.4-inch and it is a Dynamic AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 60Hz. The display is curved.
The Google Pixel 4XL uses a 6.3-inch QHD+ Flexible OLED panel flat display with a refresh rate of 90Hz.
If you are a fan of HDR content, note that Galaxy S10+ supports HDR10+ content. On the other hand, Pixel 4XL supports HDR content.
It is hard to tell which of the phones is better in terms of display. Both of the phones’ displays are great from different perspectives. So it’s better calling it a tie here.

Performance
Being the flagships, both of the phones are powerhouses in terms of processing performance. Both of the phones use the same Snapdragon 855 chipset which has gained a widespread admiration due to its amazing processing capability. Google Pixel 4XL is equipped with a 6GB RAM, whereas Galaxy S10+ has an 8GB RAM module.
Both of the phones perform really well no matter how processor intensive task is being run. But Pixel 4XL seems better due to its 90Hz display. While refresh rate doesn’t have anything to do with the benchmarking of performance capability, Google Pixel 4XL is still a better performer here even with the 6GB RAM which is lower than S10+’s 8GB RAM. The reason is that Galaxy S10+ suffers occasional hiccups, while Pixel 4XL doesn’t. That may be due to difference of operating systems.

Battery
There is not much difference between the battery performances of Pixel 4XL and Galaxy S10+. Pixel 4XL comes with a 3,700mAh unit, while Galaxy S10+ is equipped with a 4,100mAh battery. Both of these battery units should be able to support the phone throughout a day over a single charge. But the matter of fact is that neither of both phones have an amazing battery performance.
Google Pixel 4XL comes with a smaller battery and it has to support the display with a refresh rate of 90Hz. In this scenario, you may wonder if the battery performance of this phone is comparable with that of Galaxy S10+. But the matter of fact is that both of the phones had the same battery performance during lab tests. But then, the battery performance comes down to the way the phone is being used.

Cameras
Camera performance of both of the phones is great. It may be due to the fact that there has been a tight camera battle between the flagships throughout 2019. Galaxy S10+ has an amazing camera set consisting of three lenses in the rear and two on the front. On the other hand, Pixel 4XL comes with two cameras on the rear and one camera on the front. One of those cameras is a wide angle lens and the second one is a telephoto lens. Galaxy S10+ also has both of these cameras along with an additional ultra-wide lens.
Nonetheless, Google Pixel 4XL manages to do much better than Galaxy S10+ in terms of camera performance. The photos taken by Pixel 4XL are much sharper with great details at both day and night. Moreover, the HDR of Pixel 4XL is much better than that of Galaxy S10+. Not to say Galaxy S10+ is not a capable phone, but rather it can be termed as a comparison between the better and the best.
